"What does Jack White have to do with Graphic Design?"

A central part of what makes me me is a frequent and unabashed interest in other artists. Since I was a small child, I'd seemingly pick a musician, painter, writer-- you name it-- and try to learn everything about them in a short period of time.

From this little quirk, I've gained a lot of insight.

Sure, Jack White is a musician. We've all heard "Seven Nation Army" (maybe one too many times)-- but did you know he started as an upholsterer?

"[White] saw that the owner had used three staples to secure a piece of fabric and he realized that 'three was the minimum number of staples an upholsterer could use and call a piece done.' The White Stripes were built around the theme of three—guitar, drums, and voice.

As both a stance and a misdirection, they wore only red, white, and black." -from Jack White's Another Man interview

Sometimes it's the smallest things you notice that directly alter the course of your art.
